Feeding Scheme

Our kitchen runs a feeding scheme five days a week, Monday’s to Friday’s providing two meals a day namely breakfast and lunch.

Over the past year literally thousands plates of food have been served to those who are either in need or destitute. The monthly number of these plates served has risen extensively due to economic hardships and the high unemployment rate. This has put a strain on our already stretched resources such as gas for our gas stoves as well as items like dishwashing detergents etc.

Anything up to approximately 1000 meals can be served in one day , both breakfast and lunch. Most of our resources come from donations and that is hugely made up of decent expired goods received from retail supermarkets and outlets.

A functional vegetable garden within the community centre’s premises supplies our kitchen with fresh green vegetables on a daily basis. Local community members are also taught the value of self-sustainability and are always encouraged to start and maintain their own vegetable gardens.

Community members on medication for illnesses such as TB and other secondary infections are also in need of a meal when they visit our clinic as most medication may not be digested on an empty stomach.

With the support of the generous donors, we are able to provide food parcels as we have them to needy families.
